Horse Stance + Sumo Good Morning
Horse stance + sumo GM is a hip mobility exercise. It combines active straddle with hip flexion to open the hips and lengthen the posterior chain.
Cues:
Heel to toe four times to acquire foot position for horse stance
Keep feet pointing forward unless there is pain
If there is pain allow feet to turn out enough to work around it
Maintain straight back as you hinge to sumo good morning
Bring hips further forward with each return to horse stance
Mistakes:
Leaning forward in horse
Rounding low back at any time
Losing tension in the hips and legs as you shift between positions
