Handstand - Wall Facing Scissor Legs
Scissoring the feet with the wall as a guide creates moments of freestanding handstand so you can learn to balance more effectively with your hands and shoulders. Initially you will switch the feet more quickly and gradually progress to slower switches as your handstand improves.
Cues:
Position yourself 6-12" from the wall
Push tall and create a light contact with your wall foot and the other foot as close to straight up as possible
Switch the feet in the air by moving only at the hips
Work to touch the wall without leaning your weight onto it
Move the feet more and more slowly as your skill increases
Mistakes:
Leaning on the wall heavily
Arching the back or sinking down into the shoulders
Trying to hold with both feet off the wall - switch and keep switching!
